In the south, you can hike to the Top of the Murchison Falls to see the powerful waterfalls from above. You can also track chimpanzees in Kaniyo Pabidi-Budongo Forest located in the southern part of the park.
About 600 chimpanzees reside in Budongo Forest, which is also home to other primate species such as blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and black and white colobus monkeys. This tropical rainforest features colorful butterflies and over 360 bird species. To the north, past the River Nile, there is savannah land where buffalo and antelopes roam, attracting big cats like lions, hyenas, and leopards. The large area of grasses and shrubs makes it easy for predators to find food.
