Most sought-after birds in Gishwati-Mukura National Park: The park is an amazing birdwatching site in Rwanda, known for hosting the Albertine Rift endemics and other unique bird species which are rare to spot anywhere else in East Africa. It’s found in the western part of Rwanda within the Albertine Rift. It is formed of two separate forests, the Gishwati Forest and Mukura Forest, all of which have rich wildlife and bird species. The park hosts up to 163 bird species in Mukura and 230 bird species in Gishwati Forest, such as migratory birds, forest birds, water birds, Albertine Rift endemics and the park’s endemics. Birding is done at any time of the year; it experiences two seasons, the dry season and the wet season, all of which provide memorable birdwatching experiences to travellers.
