Gorilla trekking

A gorilla trekking permit issued by the Uganda Wildlife Authority is required to trek these mountain gorillas. The park wardens will get this permit from you during the day briefing. A maximum of eight individuals, accompanied by armed ranger guides, trek with each gorilla family.
All sectors begin early in the morning with gorilla trekking, when participants are briefed on activity guidelines, assigned to gorilla families to accompany them on their walk, and provided with armed ranger guides to escort them through the bush. Trekkers can meet various park wildlife species, such as birds and plants, during their 2 to 7-hour search for the gorilla family. After encountering these mountain gorillas, you will spend an hour with them as you study their social behaviour and structure.
Gorilla habituation
Gorilla habituation is the process of introducing wild Mountain Gorillas to humans for research, care, and conservation. It allows researchers to study gorillas, treat their injuries, protect them from hunters, and support conservation through sustainable tourism.
