For photographers, be keen and alert on your cameras because the Lake Manyara game drive will never disappoint you. The park offers you a platform with the best game viewing experience across Africa, including the rare tree-climbing lions. These predators lounge in tree canopies and acacia trees and pose for photos from guests, a sighting that is rarely seen anywhere else in the country.
For birdwatchers, Lake Manyara is an absolute delight, with several bird species on display across the park. Even the novice birdwatchers can expect to be amazed by large flamingo flocks, circling birds of prey, and the brightly colored and beautiful Lilac-breasted Roller.
On your Classic Tarangire Game Drive
Upon reaching the heart of Tarangire National Park, you will vividly witness the eponymous Tarangire River lined with acacia and baobab trees where the game moves at a relaxed pace to and from throughout the day. During the dry season, thousands of animals from the Masai plains migrate to the Tarangire region in search of water and green pasture, so you can spot dozens of different species in the shortest time possible.
Unique to the park are endangered animals such as the Ashy Starling, Greater Kudu, and Fringe-Eared Oryx, among others. You will enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the park’s picnic areas and take in an unparalleled view of the scenic Tarangire River. Keep an eye on your food, though, as the vervet monkey population will be only too happy to make off with a tasty treat if given the chance!
