4- Day Chimpanzee and Gorilla Trekking Safari.
This 4-day chimpanzee and gorilla trekking safari in Uganda will take you to Uganda’s prominent safari destinations. The safari will begin from Entebbe International Airport and end at Kigali International Airport. Travellers will go to Kibale Forest National Park, famous for hosting the largest number of chimpanzees in the world, where they will have a close encounter with these magnificent creatures. They will head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, known for hosting the largest number of the endangered mountain gorillas. They will have a face-to-face encounter with these awesome creatures and learn more about their behaviours. The trip will end in Kigali, where visitors will visit the Kigali memorial genocide.
Day 1: Pickup from Entebbe International Airport and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park.
Upon arrival, you will meet and greet our company driver, who will transfer you to Kibale Forest National Park, which is about a 4- 5-hour drive. You will enjoy the scenic views of the countryside as you head to the park. You will have lunch en route. Upon arrival, you will check into the hotel, refresh and have dinner. Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Your date 2 of 4- Day Chimpanzee and Gorilla Trekking Safari will begin with an early morning breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking. You will be divided into groups of 8 participants and meet your assigned park guide. You will walk through the forest in search of the chimps, and chimpanzee trekking takes between 1 to 4 hours, depending on where the chimps slept. After locating them, you will spend 1 hour with them learning more about their behaviours. After you will have lunch and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, upon arrival, you will check into the booked Lodge, refresh and have dinner. Day 3: Gorilla trekking and Batwa Cultural Experience.
Wakeup early morning for the drive to the park headquarters at 7:00 am for the briefing about gorilla trekking experience as you will be briefed and later divided in to various groups and there after you enter the forest in search for these gentle giants, this can take from 1-6 hours depending on where gorillas slept, this exercise requires hiking and here you need to physically fit to take part in this mountain gorilla tracking because it involves climbing the steep terrain. Upon meeting them, you will be allowed to spend one hour in front of the gorillas, take photos, and later have a lunch break as you wait for the Batwa cultural encounter. You will learn about their way of life through storytelling, traditional dances, how they use traditional herbs to heal diseases, and more. After you will return to the lodge and conclude your day 3 of 4- Day Chimpanzee and Gorilla Trekking Safari. Day 4: Transfer to Kigali and visit Kigali Genocide Memorial.
Upon arrival in Kigali, Upon arrival you will visit Kigali Genocide Memorial where you will be guided through the memorial’s powerful exhibitions, where you will learn about Rwanda’s history, the events of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, and the country’s remarkable journey of healing and reconciliation. You will also visit the Children’s Memorial, pay your respects at the mass graves, and spend time reflecting in the peaceful memorial gardens. After the tour, enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before returning to your hotel or continuing with an optional sightseeing tour of Kigali. This day offers a meaningful opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Rwanda’s past while appreciating the resilience and hope that define the country today. After you will have lunch and transfer to Kigali International Airport. This marks the end of your 4- Day Chimpanzee and Gorilla Trekking Safari with Caracal Explorers.
