6 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by our customer care representative together with your assigned English-speaking guide, who will drive you to Volcanoes National Park. This journey will introduce you to the stunning scenery characterised by a tapestry of undulating hilly landscapes with a green vegetation cover from which this amazing country gets her name, “A country of a thousand hills,” and exceptional in style. You will visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, one of Rwanda’s cultural heritage centres, where you will learn and explore more about the country’s culture based on norms and traditions. Have lunch, and later continue with your journey to Volcanoes National Park, where you will check in, and after you embark on an evening nature walk within the environs, taking you to the scenic crater lakes of Ruhondo and Burera. Return to the lodge, freshen up, and then get briefed by your guide about the following day’s gorilla trekking activity. Have dinner and an overnight stay.

Wake up early in the morning and have your heavy breakfast with a packed lunch. After your driver guide will transfer you to the park offices for a pre-tracking briefing.  The ranger guide will lead your trekking adventure into the forest in search of the mountain gorillas. The trek will involve uphill walks, rough, and occasionally slippery, especially during the rainy season. However, this experience is worthwhile, taking almost between 45 minutes to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas. On seeing these gentle giants, its very amazing, whereby you will spend an hour learning and studying their social lifestyle and behaviours, such as feeding and nursing their babies, among others. After, return to the park headquarters, relax, and have refreshments with your packed lunch. Later, return to the lodge for relaxation as you share stories of the magical adventure, have your time at leisure until dinner and overnight.

Get up early in the morning and prepare for the day’s experience. Take your breakfast, and after your travel safari guide will transfer you to the park information center for a pre-trekking briefing about the rules and regulations pertaining to golden monkey trekking. After, armed rangers will lead you into the bamboo jungle to search for these golden monkeys in their natural habitat. Along the way, you will encounter other primate species such as blue, red-tailed, and black and white colobus monkeys, among other species. Upon seeing these exciting golden monkeys, you will spend an hour observing them as you learn and study their ways of life as they keep alternating from one tree to another.  Take a break, have refreshments, and eat your packed lunch. Later, continue learning more as you critically observe their ways of life and behaviours. Later, retire in the evening and return to the lodge for relaxation as you share stories of the experience. Be at leisure until dinner and have an overnight stay at the lodge.

Have your breakfast at leisure and drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park, which is about a 5 to 6-hour drive southwest of Volcanoes National Park. You will enjoy the scenic and exciting hilly landscapes with green vegetation cover as you explore the beauty of Rwanda, “a country of a thousand hills,” before reaching Nyungwe Forest National Park. Have an en route lunch and after, proceed with your journey to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Check in at your booked lodge and afterwards have a guided forest walk, which will take you to a tapestry of tea estates and plantations. After returning for dinner and overnight.

Have your breakfast and drive to the park information offices, where you will get briefed about the rules and regulations concerning the trekking exercise.  Nyungwe Forest National Park is one of the best locations for chimpanzee trekking experiences where nature lovers will explore the beauty of these intelligent creatures in a magical style. After, begin your guided forest walk with armed rangers in search of mountain gorillas, which may take you about 2-5 hours. Upon seeing these creatures, you will have an hour to study and learn their social lifestyle and behaviours as you take memorable photos. Retire, relax and have lunch at the lodge and later head for the canopy walk experience, which offers scenic views overhead of the jungle. This experience will give you a chance to see other primates like blue, red-tailed, and black and white colobus monkeys, among others. Have dinner at the lodge and an overnight stay.
