Birds of Akagera National Park.
Akagera National Park is one of the most visited national parks in Rwanda, blessed with a rich avian life. It is one of the top bird watching destinations in the country, situated in the eastern region, with unique bird species that draw thousands of visitors to come and explore the park’s unique avian life. It is the largest national park in the country, covering an area of about 1122 square kilometers. Akagera National Park is not only known for hosting up to 480 bird species including water birds, savannah birds, acacia dwelling birds and migratory bird species but also hosts over 90 mammal species including the African Big Four mammals, elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, rhinos and others like hyenas, impalas, oribis, water bucks, warthogs, giraffes, zebras among others, reptiles, amphibians.
