5-day safari to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Join us for a captivating 5-day safari to Nyungwe Forest National Park, an iconic destination in the land of a thousand hills. Next, we’ll head to Nyungwe Forest National Park for exciting activities, including the renowned canopy walk and chimpanzee trekking. These experiences allow you to explore the park from above and get up close with playful chimpanzees, our closest relatives on Earth. Additionally, you’ll enjoy colobus monkey trekking, which offers another unforgettable wildlife encounter, as well as visits to local plantations. The safari concludes at the stunning Lake Kivu, where you can unwind with a serene boat cruise and relax amidst beautiful surroundings.

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport.

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will meet our driver guide who will transfer you to your booked Hotel, depending on your arrival time you will do a city tour to introduce you to the culture and history of the country, visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial ground and learn more about this incident. After the city tour, you will return to the hotel have dinner and relax.

Day 2: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Your day 2 of 5-day safari to Nyungwe Forest National Park will begin with a hearty breakfast and transfer to the park. It’s approximately 5 hours drive, along the way you will have stopovers to Ethnograpic Museum and Royal Palace Museum. You will have lunch en route and this journey will be full of panoramic views.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe National Park

You will have an early breakfast and transfer to the park to do chimpanzee trekking. You will be briefed at the park about the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee trekking and later meet your assigned park guide and head in search of these playful chimps. After locating them, you will spend 1 hour with them observing and learning more about them in their natural habitats. After trekking, you will return back at the lodge relax, and have lunch and go on an afternoon session of the canopy walk which is an amazing experience of exploring the park on top of the forest.

Day 4: Colobus Monkey Tracking and Tea Plantation Visit

Your day 4 of 5-day safari to Nyungwe Forest National Park will begin with breakfast, and head for Colobus monkey tracking which is a good experience of meeting these playful monkeys, they live in groups of 5 to 300 individuals after tracking you will visit the tea plantation and later head to Kibuye along the Kivu Lake; you will have a fantastic view of the country of a thousand hills.

Day 5: Lake Kivu and transfer back home.

After Breakfast, you will go for a boat ride and visit different islands on Lake Kivu. After you will visit the environmental museum in Kibuye before heading to Kigali for your departure flight. This marks the end of your 5-day safari to Nyungwe Forest National Park with Caracal Explorers.
