This 2-Day Mabamba Birding Experience takes you birding in Entebbe and the Mabamba Wetland in Uganda. The wetland is known for the rare Shoebill Stork and many other bird species. Day 1: Birding in Entebbe’s UWEC & Botanical Gardens
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our company representative and taken to your booked accommodation in Entebbe. If you arrive early, you may visit Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (UWEC), where you can see various animals and over 170 bird species. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your booked Hotel.
Have your hearty breakfast, then continue to Entebbe Botanical Gardens. Here, the gardens are conducive to birdlife, meaning you will have good hours of birding on the best trails around the shores of Lake Victoria, with over 150 species of birds. Look out for the Bare-faced Away Bird, Great Blue and Ross’s Turacos, Red-chested, Klaas’s and Diederik Cuckoo, Great Reed Warbler, Fain-tailed Widowbird, Striped, Malachite, Giant, Woodland and Pygmy Kingfishers, Black Bishop, Grey Woodpecker, Olive-bellied, Red-chested, Olive, superb, Copper etc Sunbirds, and many more. A picnic Lunch in the gardens, relax while birding, and in the evening return to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Mabamba Island & the Search for Shoebills
The trip includes an early transfer to Mabamba Swamp, located 50 kilometers west of Kampala. On the way, look for various birds like the Papyrus Gonolek and White Shouldered Tit. Mabamba Swamp is famous for the Shoebill Stork, but you can also find other species, including Gallinules, Grey Herons, and the threatened Pallid Harrier. Canoeing is recommended for the best birdwatching experience, and you might see the rare Sitatunga Antelope. In the afternoon, drive back to the hotel, birdwatching along the route before dinner and an overnight stay to conclude your 2-Day Mabamba Birding Experience
