1 Day Kampala City Tour
This 1 day kampala city tour will take you to Entebbe Wildlife Education Centre (zoo), home to unique wild life species in cages to help those visitors who have limited time on their schedule. After, your tour guide will drive to Kampala, a city brimming with energy, culture, and interesting encounters. You will also visit Kasubi tombs and Namugongo Shrine for the Uganda martyrs, among others. Beginning with the vibrant seven hills that comprise Kampala’s fascinating historical, political, religious, cultural, and commercial city. This city tour will give you a chance to interact with the friendly and gregarious Ugandans living in the city, religious and cultural places such as the famous Kasubi tombs, the burial grounds of the Baganda Royal family.
Entebbe Wildlife Education Centre
After your Morning breakfast, our company safari guide will pick you from your place of residence/ hotel, and transfer you to Entebbe Wildlife Education Centre (zoo) and you will have chance to see several wildlife species especially mammals in captivity such as lions, leopards, tigers, buffaloes, cheetahs, civet cats, giraffes, sitatungas, zebras, waterbuck, primates like chimpanzees, vervet monkeys, reptiles like monitor lizards, crocodiles, and snakes including pythons, Black Mambas, Egyptian Cobras, puff adders and many others. The wildlife centre will introduce you to several bird species.
Kasubi Tombs
After, you will drive to Kampala City, the capital of Uganda enjoying the hospitality of Ugandans and how they spend their day-to-day life, participating in different activities to earn a living. You will head to Kasubi Tombs which are located about 5 kilometers from Kampala City Centre along Hoima Lodge in Rubaga North on Kasubi Hill. This cultural site is the burial grounds for four the Kabakas (Kings of Buganda Kingdom) such as the late Muteesa, Dawudi Chwa and Mwanga plus other members of the Buganda royal family, making it a significant mystical site for the Ganda people and a true significant example of the traditional architecture. The buildings were made using purely vegetative materials and its one of the unique locally made sites in the entire region of sub sahara Africa which made it to become a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After you will have lunch and after proceed to Namugongo Martyrs shrine.
Namugongo Martyrs Shrine
You will learn alot about the history of this holy place, one of the most iconic religious sites in Africa with rich history and influence on both culture and religion. This Martyrs Shrine is one of the significant a pilgrimage sites in Africa that commemorates the 22 Uganda Catholic martyrs who were killed in Namugongo during the reign of King Mwanga 11 of Buganda between 1885 and 1887 because of their faith. This memorial shrine attracts over a million visitors annually, serving as a powerful reminder of the martyrs, courage and unwavering faith. This shrine is a major pilgrimage destination, particularly on every 3rd June, which is the anniversary of the martyrs, deaths. Therefore, this represents a pivotal moment in Uganda’s religious history and the growth of Christianity in the country. After this cultural and religious experience, your driver guide will transfer you back to your area of residence/ hotel and this marks the end of your 1-day Kampala City Tour.
