Murchison Falls Park is among the most visited national parks in Uganda, located in the northwest region of the country. It’s famous for hosting the strongest waterfalls in the world, “ Murchison Falls”, attracting many visitors to come and witness as the Nile squeezes its way through a 7m narrow gorge before plunging into a 43m pool to create the world’s most powerful waterfalls. Murchison Falls  Park is open for visitors throughout the year, and the best time depends on an individual’s interests. The park experiences an equatorial climate with two seasons, the dry season and the wet season, both provide unique safari experiences.

When to visit Murchison Falls National Park.

Dry season

The dry season is the most preferred season by travellers to visit Murchison Falls National Park and is commonly known as the peak season, which runs from December to February and June to September. During this season, temperatures range between 25 to 32 °C during the day and drop to 18 °C at night. The park receives little to no rainfall, and the game tracks are less muddy or slippery, making it easy to penetrate the park. The vegetation cover is short and scattered, which creates a clear view of various park inhabitants, and photographers have higher chances of taking clear pictures.

Wet Season- When to visit Murchison Falls National Park.

 Travellers can visit Murchison Falls  Park during the wet season, commonly known as the low season, which runs from March to May and October to November. During this season, temperatures typically range from 29°C  to 31°C  daytime while nighttime lows range around 18°C  to 20°C. The park receives abundant rainfall in this period. The park is muddy and slippery, making it challenging to penetrate. The vegetation cover is tall and dense, creating unclear views while watching wildlife species and for photography. However, this is the best time of the year to do birding, it’s a breeding period for various bird species, and migratory birds come to the park during this period. There are high chances of spotting various unique bird species in this season.
