This 6-day Rwanda gorilla and wildlife safari starts and ends at Kigali International Airport. The 6 Days Rwanda Gorilla and Wildlife Safari will offer you the most exceptional African jungle experiences, complete with a wide range of wildlife, including the African great primates, particularly the endangered mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, and the big five mammals, such as rhinos, leopards, lions, elephants, buffalos, and several other animals. This safari will take you to the three prominent parks of Volcanoes National Park, Akagera National Park, and Nyungwe Forest National Park, all blessed with exclusive attractions that ensure you capture the uniqueness of the African jungle.
Day 1: Arrive at Kigali international Airport and Transfer to Akagera National Park
Upon arrival, our company representative will welcome you at the airport, meet and greet you, and after that, transfer you to your booked hotel to freshen up. After that, you will meet your safari guide at the reception to brief you about the safari. After that, you will drive to Akagera National Park, the only savanna park famous for wildlife species, especially members of the big five mammals. You will be at the park in time, relax and check in at your booked lodge, have lunch, and later in the afternoon have a game drive in search of wildlife species like giraffes, elephants, buffalos, waterbucks, leopards, lions, zebras, and topis, among others. Retire and head back to the lodge, relax, until dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning game drive and boat ride on Lake Ihema
Rise up early, have breakfast, and set off for the early morning game drive in search of the missed-out species and early risers, especially predators like leopards, lions, spotted hyenas, civets, and others like elephants, Masai giraffes, hippos, buffalos, and several antelopes. Retire, relax, and get refreshed, and later have lunch. Thereafter, you will have an evening boat cruise on Lake Ihema, where you will enjoy its scenic beauty and species like hippos, crocodiles, monitor lizards, and several other bird species like the elusive Shoebill, Saddle-billed Stork, Yellow-billed Stork, African Eagle, African Jacana, and several Kingfishers. Return to your lodge, relax, and wait for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
Wake up early in the morning and prepare your travel bags, have them packed in your safari vehicle, and take your leisurely breakfast. Drive via Kigali to Nyungwe Forest National Park, home to the magical chimpanzee trekking experience. Along the way, you will traverse various tourist attractions, undulating hills, and cultural landmarks such as the king’s Palace found in Nyanza and the cultural museum in Butare, which defines Rwanda’s cultural traditions and identity. After, proceed with your journey through the dotted tea estates with wooden houses to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Have dinner and an overnight stay at your booked hotel, like Nyungwe Forest Lodge.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking Experience-Transfer to Kibuye
Rise up early, have your breakfast, and embark on an early morning chimpanzee trekking adventure. You will be led by a team of rangers into the forest in search of man’s closest cousins within a rate duration of 5-6 hours of trekking. You will return to your lodge, have lunch, and in the afternoon, drive to Kibuye town, which is situated along the shores of Lake Kivu, for a community walk and scenic views of the lake. Later in the evening, check in at your designated lodge/hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Gisenyi and Ruhengeri
Have your breakfast, and after, drive to Ruhengeri through Gisenyi. This drive will show you the stunning scenery, particularly the Gisovu and Kagove tea estates. Later, arrive at Ruhengeri and check into your booked hotel, freshen up, and relax until dinner is served and an overnight.

Day 6: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Wake up early and prepare yourself; have breakfast, and after that, you will drive to the park’s headquarters for a briefing about the rules and regulations of mountain gorilla trekking by 8:00 am. After that, you will be assigned a specific gorilla family led by a team of rangers into the forest in search of mountain gorillas. Only Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park, Virunga National Park (Congo), Mgahinga, and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park are the only locations in Africa with these endangered mountain gorillas. Since gorillas travel long distances in search of food, at times trekking may be rough, taking between 2-7 hours, especially during the dry season. Therefore, you are advised to move with drinking water. You will spend a maximum of one hour upon seeing these gorillas; take as many photos as you can following the park rules and regulations. Retire and head back to the lodge for lunch. Later in the evening, you will drive back to Kigali at your hotel or at Kigali International Airport to meet your return flight.
