This 4-Day Birding Safari in Murchison Falls National Park takes you to Uganda’s most popular park for both game viewing and birdwatching tours as well as Mabamba Wetland for the iconic Shoebill.   • Day 1: Birding from Entebbe via Mabamba Wetland – Shoebill Stork

    Wake up early, have breakfast and transfer to Mabamba wetland which is about 40 mins boat ride from Entebbe to the wetland on your 4-day birding safari in Murchison Falls National Park.  Upon reaching Mabamba, you will board another boat to start searching for the highly sought after Shoebill in its natural habitat. This wetland is the best spot site for the elusive Shoebill Storks as well as other bird species. Several other bird species to see include; Western-banded Snake Eagle, Lesser Jacana, Papyrus Gonolek, Madagascar Bee-eater, Spur-winged warbler, Purple and Allen’s Gallinule, White-shouldered Tit, Blue-breasted bee eater, Glossy Ibis, White-winged Warbler, Grey-headed Gull among others. After this highlight, return to Kampala and then transfer to Muchison Falls National Park via the Luwero triangle traversing through scenic and eye-catching scenery punctuated by dotted savannah and woodlands searching for species like the Yellow Mantled Bishop, White-crested Turaco, Nubian Woodpecker, Brown-throated Wattle Eye, Eastern and Dark Chanting Goshawk and others. After, check into your lodge in Masindi town and relax, have dinner and an overnight stay.

  • Day 2: Birding Budongo- Royal mile and transfer to northern Murchison

    Rise up early and have breakfast, after drive to the near by Budongo Forest along the Royal Mile stretch, a truly exciting and eye-catching birding spot with overhead forest canopy. The forest has unique mosaic of birding trails dominated by skulking birds such as the Yellow-billed, Grey-throated, Hairly-breasted and Yellow-spotted Barbet, Lemon-billed Crombec, Forest Robin, Nahan’s Francolin, Tit Hylia, Black-billed and Great Blue Turaco among others. Along the way, on a luck day, you will have a chance to come across several primates such as the red-tailed, blue and white and black colobus monkeys crossing across this birding trail. Relax, have dinner and over night stay.

  • Day 3: Birding Northern Murchison Falls National Park along the Delta

    Get up early, have breakfast and get prepared for the day’s climax where by the boat ride to the base of the falls and our game drive to the Albert Delta, where we occasionally get to see the Shoebill Stork, will definitely be the highlights of the trip. On a great day, expect to have magical views of the iconic Shoebill, one of the top highlights of the day, along with other birds such the Red-throated and Northern Carmine Bee-eaters, Senegal Thick-knee, African Fish Eagle, Rock Pratincole, Giant, Woodland, Grey Headed, Malachite, Pygmy, and striped Kingfishers, as well as the Saddle-billed, Yellow Billed, and African Open Billed Stork, among others. Mammals to see include elephants, Rothschild Giraffes, buffaloes, and several antelopes.

  • Day 4: Visit the Top of the falls -Return to Entebbe International Airport

    Wake up and get all your travel bags packed in your safari vehicle, have breakfast and later transfer to the spectacular top of the falls and enjoy the eye-catching and great roaring sound of the falls as the Nile Squeezes its self in a narrow 7-meter gorge plunging 43 meters down the pool forming a thunderous and beautiful sound. Take as many memorable photos as possible, since according to research these are the strongest water falls in the world. Proceed with your journey to Entebbe in order to meet your return flight. This marks the end of your 4-Day Birding Safari in Murchison Falls National Park.
