List of Birds in Nyungwe Forest National Park: Nyungwe Forest National Park is one of the top bird watching destinations in Rwanda and a second national Park with the longest list of birds. It is situated in the Albertine Rift Valley eco- region, well known for its plant cover as well as being home to chimpanzees. Nyungwe Forest National Park hosts over 320 bird species, including 11 species of the Guinea Congo forest biome, 29 Albertine rift endemics, 71 species of the Afro tropical highlands biome, water birds, and forest birds are recorded in the park. The park’s rich birdlife is supported by the presence of unique ecosystems such as tropical rainforest, woodlands, wetlands, and waterfalls, which provide habitats to various bird species. Birding in the park is best done in the morning or evening hours when birds are most active.
