Chimpanzee trekking begins early in the morning, with guides briefing visitors about the rules and regulations that must be followed. A popular trek in Kibale begins at 8:00 am and 15:00 pm from the Kanyanchu Visitor Centre, lasting 2-3 hours. All groups are accompanied by a team of armed park rangers into the jungle, where visitors may also spot other primate species like blue monkeys and grey-cheeked mangabeys. Chimpanzee trekking is available on Ngamba Island in Uganda. It is accessible by speedboat from Entebbe and is situated close to Lake Victoria. To ensure their safety, the chimpanzees’ territory is cordoned off. Goodall established this facility to conserve chimpanzees. Two boat journeys are offered: a full trip at 5 p.m. and a half-trip in the morning. The size of the group determines how much the visit will cost. Children between the ages of five and fifteen always pay half the amount to enter the sanctuary. Approximately 13 chimpanzees were initially saved by Dr. Jane Goodall and a few villagers, and since then, the sanctuary has grown to house over 50 rescued or orphaned chimps.
